After
Unforced Movement
Moving without trying to improve anything.
Today I wasn’t thinking
about going on a walk.
I finally mustered up the courage
to face the blood pressure cuff.
A great fear of mine
that has developed
for many reasons
over the decades.
I did it,
and was good.
I felt a freedom
that I hadn’t felt
in a long time.
I wasn’t going to walk
because it was raining.
I like rain,
but not lightning.
There was no lightning,
so I decided to go.
I walked in the rain
and ran half of it.
The rain came down,
I got wet,
and running
was not more difficult
than walking. Both felt right.
Both felt free
and new.
It was great.
